Our Weekend at the 3rd Annual Virginia Craft Brewers Cup
Greetings!
We had QUITE the weekend at the Third Annual Virginia Craft Brewers Fest, hosted by Devils Backbone Brewing Company Basecamp. Ike, Jaimis, Joe, Thorne, Anne, and Brendan made the trek to the Blue Ridge Mountains to join 50 Virginia craft breweries and thousands of craft beer lovers from Virginia and surrounding states to celebrate Virginia’s amazing craft beer industry. And what a celebration it was!
On Friday evening, we had a blast at the 'Brewers Dinner', an industry party where founders, brewers, and other team members gathered to share beer and talk brewing. Each brewery brought kegs, growlers, and/or rare beers to share and gain feedback. There were BUCKETS upon buckets filled with bottles, growlers, and kegs, (and it also happened to be Ike's birthday) so as you can imagine, we had a great time. It's pretty incredible how much the industry has grown in the state of Virginia, and even more exciting is all of the great brews our state is turning out.
On Saturday, we braved the rain and poured Bust Head English Pale Ale and Chinquapin Chestnut Porter at the festival - both were crowd favorites, of course! And the most exciting of all was winning medals at the 3rd Annual Virginia Craft Brewers Cup, of which they announced the winners on Saturday evening. We received a bronze metal for our English Pale Ale for English, Scottish & Irish Ale category, and our Gold Cup Russian Imperial Stout won bronze for Strong Ales. Not bad for the new kids on the block!
We also ran into our friends and neighbors, Old Ox Brewery and Heritage Brewing. Fun times had by all!
