Brewer’s Blog, Brewmaster’s Shadow Gail Brooks, 07232015:  OBH Brewing Company personnel visited Powers Farm & Brewery this morning for a tour. The farm has over 200 hop plants of Cascade, Centennial, Mt Hood, Chinook and Nugget varieties.  Hops are a perennial crop usually grown from a rhizome cutting, and can take two to three years to reach full production.  Brewing with fresh wet hops, produces a more exciting and flavorful beer.  Available once a year, look for these organic scrumptious, plump and juicy hops in this year’s batch of Virginia Hop Harvest beer.  (Photos of Charles Kling examining individual hops, group talk about the plants and how to grow them, and a close up of fresh hops on the vine)
